Kallfelz wins case over corks

Readers letter (so far 0)

After a legal battle lasting nine years, Mosel winemaker Albert Kallfelz has won his claim against a supplier of natural corks.

The superior district court in Koblenz/Germany found that the winemaker should be paid compensation of around 100.000 Euros for wine that had been rendered unsaleable. Previously, the highest civil court in Germany, the federal court of Bundesgerichtshof had already agreed in principle that the cork supplier was liable to pay compensation. The district court now similarly found that the corks had negatively impacted the Kallfelz wines.

Albert Kallfelz switched his production to stainless crown caps years ago. An interview with Albert Kallfelz will be posted shortly at www.verschlusssache-wein.de. (WF)
