Worried about the rain
Readers letter (so far 0)
Wine producers in Bordeaux are concerned about the 2008 vintage. The weather is more wet and humid than they had hoped for, and yields are already reduced in many areas.
Relatively copious rainfall is causing concern to Bordeaux wine producers. Both rain during flower set and hail damage have already reduced the size and number of grape bunches - by up to 50 per cent in some regions - the current rainy spell has now become a problem. As reported by the Bordeaux Blog, rainfall in August has been spread over many days and small amounts at a time, with dry spells being the exception. (WF)
