Following the death of a vineyard worker in California, her mother is now suing the vineyard owners.
The mother of a 17-year-old vineyard worker who dies from a heat stroke a few weeks ago, is now suing the owners of the vineyard for damages. According to allegations filed in court, Maria Isabel Vasquez Jimenez died as a result of negligence committed by, among others, the West Coast Grape Farming Company. It is claimed not enough drinking water was provided. The case has sparked a lively debate in California regarding the rights and working conditions of vineyard workers, most of whom are Mexican immigrants. (WF)
