Water and sugar found in cheap wines
Readers letter (so far 0)
The wine inspectorate in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg has discovered illegal additives in three Italian wines. The additives are claimed not to pose a health hazard.
As eeported by the Weinreporter, the wines were found to have had sugar and water added illegally. The wines are all in the very lowest price category, and include a white table wine, a country wine and a Lambrusco IGT.
The find was made as a result of increased controls of Italian wines introduced as a result of the wine scandals recently uncovered in Italy. To date, no substances representing a health hazard have been discovered in Baden-Württemberg. (WF)
