Top wines in Domain Western Victoria - Grampians
Wine-growing region (GI) in the federal state of Victoria in Australia, part of the Western Victoria zome. The previous name of Great Western was changed to Grampians when the GI system was introduced, however this name is still applied to a sub-region. The reason for the change lay in a dsipute between the Best’s and Seppelt wineries over the use of the name, which extended over several decades. The climate is relatively cool. Both the climate and the soils are ideally suited for the production of sparkling wines, which are produced here on a large scale. The total vineyard area is 320 hectares, this is planted with the white varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, as well as with the red varieties Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. Well-known producers include Best´s, Garden Gully Vineyards, Mount Langi Ghiran and Seppelt Great Western#Seppelt.
